1930's Ingot Silver Ring Set with Large, Amber Hued, Phenolic Resin Cabochon

Ingot sterling, mill-rolled sheet and drawn wire was used to fabricate the body of this unusual ring.  The magnificent, high domed cabochon is cut from phenolic resin material, precursor to "Bakelite".  The substance, once mixed and set, can be carved and is nearly indestructible--with a marvelous look!  This particular "stone" is red amber or carnelian hued.

Certainly a special order, the bold geometric form with its cigar band shank tapered comfortably at the back, is accented with handsome stamp details on the shank sides and around the bezel's thick frame.

This creation we have never seen before, nor will we be likely to find another.  For that person who ventures outside the box, this ring will keep you company.

Size 8 with a face measuring 1 3/16" X 1" width X 1/2" deep from shank to cabochon top.
