Sold !!! Circa 1900 Leather Ornament Decorated with a Miniature Buckle and Two Conchos

SavvyCollector.com

Native tanned, smoked hide is the basis for this clever watch fob.  The tufa/ sand cast buckle, with two flush-set turquoise stones, is actually buckled down into the piece.  With the flanking ingot silver conchos, one is looking at the front three components of a doll-sized belt!

The chisel and stamp work on each ingot silver concho is detailed and perfectly scaled.  The leather strips threaded through the copper concho loops, to hold them in place, are all part of one piece of an ingeniously devised pattern as fascinating as the silver work, if not even more so.  One does not have to own a watch to love this great little work of art.

Overall length is 5 1/2" by 1 1/2" wide.  The buckle is 1 3/8" X 1 5/8" across.  Each concho is 1 1/16" X 1 1/4".
